whats happening when you hear the modem noise when you connect to the internet?
i was legitimate wondering why the computer has to make an annoying noise everytime i dial up
It is annoying, isn't it? It's dialing the legions. I think it's actually a good feature because once you get used to it, you'll be qualified to find out if it has connected or not.

@ 3rd strive to post this...... I'm going to do the noise to simulate a modem it really needs that noise lol :)
@ figured out the tough nut to crack. I ran over 6 meters of cheap cable into my modem which was adding the noise. (SNR margin was < 7 always)
