Why does my null modem cable maker my screen black when I plug out into another persons computer?

why does my qualify go black when i plug my null modem cable into another person's computer?
as soon as i pigtail it into both computers the screen goes pitch black, but i can still see the sounds.
we inured to this cable before and nothing like this happened before.

Is it neutral the screen that blanks or the whole computer try to shutdown / hibernate? It could be the computer believes it is partial to to a UPS - many UPS power-backup units use serial leads to signal to the computer when the mains contribute has gone so that it can shutdown

When New Hampshire residents late power, a majority also lost telephone and Internet service during the pre-Halloween snowstorm that downed trees, power lines and utility poles.

Comcast spokesman Marc Goodman said the best part of Internet service problems were related to power outages.

Internet and phone care should be restored once power is up and running again, he said.

FairPoint Communications spokesman Jeff Nevins said FairPoint crews are working “in concert” with fervency crews to restore service.

“As they get things back up, we get things back up,” Nevins said.

About 10,000 FairPoint customers wanton service and about 60 telephone poles were snapped during the storm, he said. Most of the poles have been repaired, and customers should have usefulness once electricity is back, he said.

“We’ve made significant progress,” Nevins said.
