What is the slowest modem speed (Baud rate) that a terminal service client can use to connect?

I am exasperating to use a remote desktop, Microsoft terminal service patron over a dial up connection. I can do it with a 56K modem and connect at 48K using a land edging to a dial up Internet service.. Can this be done using a text link running over a satellite phone....baud
