Cisco LINKSYS Cable Modem - Modems

Need help setting up my Linksys (cisco) E1000 router on a old laptop and a new high speed cable modem.?

I had this router set up for a wireless network at my former tenancy but I have moved into a new apartment.
I used my old roommates PC to set the router up. Now that I have move and no longer have access to that PC or modem I try tournament the install disc on my laptop

Affix PC [wireless] to Router [wired] to Broadband Modem.
