What are the benefits of having Blu-ray Disc Drive (BD/DVD/CD Burner)? Is it worth getting it now? or wait?

I'm about to purchased a computer, not for amusement but work. I do burn some dvds once in awhile, but is it worth buying it face now, or wait till more HD formats will be available?
I would interval until the standard of HD and BlueRay settle down, even though BRs are pretty much it now. The BR drives I've found are take it easy just like the DVD burners were when they first came out. Give it a couple years.
