My HP Officejet J5780 Printer says that it has a paper jam?

For the times gone by several weeks, my printer says that it has a paper jam, but there is no paper to be found. We are on to throw this thing out the window. Does anyone know what we can do to fix this intractable?

I've had this hornet's nest with my printer too...several times at least. First of all, the printer wasn't taking in typescript and then a paper jam message always came up when there wasn't any paper jam! I cotton on to...I had to call up HP and ask them to do something because
