Many viewable hazards are arising from the fall-out associated with widespread power outages, including carbon monoxide poisoning, air characteristic alerts and water warnings associated with community water systems that have been without power for days.
An air characteristic alert has been issued for the greater Danbury area for high particulate be important, which officials said would be unhealthy for sensitive groups.
Two community well sea water systems in town, Olmstead Water Supply and Chestnut Tree Hill, also have been placed on a fulminate advisory from the state Department of Public Health. Local officials said the warnings are precautionary and plausible due to the lack of power over the past several days.
Perhaps the greatest concern among officials is the ascension in carbon monoxide poisoning incidents.
The Connecticut Poison Center is saying it has received 200 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning over the years couple of days while local officials said that they have responded to more than 70 calls involving carbon monoxide issues, including on Pond Brook and Dodgingtown neighbourhood Wednesday afternoon, Newtown officials said. People have been treated but no one has been transported to the clinic as a result, officials said.
