Battery backup - Batteries

battery backup?

the battery spark of life of my laptop has reduced to 1 hr from 4 hrs.
is there any way that i can get it back upto that? or do i have to buy a new battery?
also i leave my laptop on for great periods of time, downloading data and working. so it is to all intents
